Emplois

Postdoctoral Researcher in Small Vessel Diseases of the Brain

The Joutel Lab is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in studying alterations of mural cells and extracellular matrix of cerebral vessels underlying small vessel diseases of the brain.

Our lab studies the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying small vessel diseases (SVD) of the brain, a group of diseases that are among the main causes of stroke and dementia worldwide. We use monogenic forms of SVD that share many clinical and pathological features with sporadic SVDs as experimental models. The goal of our research is to understand how mutations in a single gene alter small vessels of the brains to cause stroke and brain parenchyma lesions.

For the past decade, our lab has been developing highly relevant mouse models of hereditary SVDs and state-of-the-art approaches including optical imaging, mass spectrometry/proteomics, RNA-Seq as well as ex vivo and in vivo vascular physiology. This research direction has allowed us to produce some of seminal work in CADASIL, the most frequent hereditary SVD caused by mutations in the Notch3 receptor.

This position in the Joutel Lab is a unique opportunity for highly qualified and extremely motivated Ph.D. applicants to start their postdoctoral training in the neurovascular field. Experience in animal experimentation, confocal microscopy and Image processing is highly desirable. The successful applicant will be exposed to extensive networking opportunities through established National, European and Transatlantic Networks of Excellence on the pathogenesis of small vessel diseases of the brain.

Please submit your application, including cover letter, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of three references -- all documents within a single PDF file --to anne.joutel@inserm.fr.
