Aim of the symposium
Cell biology is currently transforming from a mostly descriptive into an integrative and quantitative science. This requires traditional cell biological methods to be combined with physical approaches and mathematical modelling. This multi-disciplinary approach aims to characterize biological systems in their entirety.
As a result of this transition, researchers from the Institut Pasteur have launched a quantitative biology (Qbio) initiative. The goal of this initiative is to strengthen collaborations of scientists with a common interest in quantitative and integrative biology.
Physical Aspects in Membrane Biology is the 3rd symposium within the framework of the Qbio initiative and will focus on physical properties of biological membranes. The aim of this symposium is to foster collaboration of physicist and cell biologists with a common interest in membrane biology.
